Lights & Shadows Davao

Throw Back || May 2011

It was a day full of unexpected moments, and just as about Rosini, the Bride, was all prepped to walk down the aisle to a beautiful garden wedding with Yuri, the rain fell hard forcing all guests to take shelter in the reception hall.  The only ones left was the pastor, and the groom, Yuri.  In Tears and Wet from the rain, Rosini braved to march that aisle. A true testament that LOVE is stronger than any force in Earth.

This Is Who We Are

We Are Lights & Shadows Davao from Lights & Shadows Davao on Vimeo.

Human as we are, our interests are piqued at one point in time. People, places and events constantly fascinate us, not because of who they are, what they are and where they are... but because each of them has a narrative; a Story Unfolding in every second, and what joy to be right there at the moment. someone once said, STORIES can CHANGE the WORLD, for us it MOVE people, it MOVED US; a perspective altered, a viewpoint revisited, a mindset reorganized. It’s invigorating; it has become an addiction, to be constantly challenged, to be perpetually provoked, continuously stimulated. It keeps the fire in us burning.

It has been a visual orgasm for us to be waking up everyday to a thousand stories unraveling just waiting to be immortalized.

As we became Lights and Shadows, we did not shed the old “us” to satisfy expectations, to fit into conformity, to become generic and turn into patterns.

This is who we are; scribes of history, chroniclers of tales, with a fiery passion and desire to capture every story.

We cannot separate, what we do, from who we are.

TOP BRAND AWARD: " 2013 Wedding & Event Photographer and Filmmaker of the Year"

Wow! It's an early Christmas gift for us when out of the blue we received a wonderful news-

Quality Brands Philippines (Top Brand Awards, Philippines), a non profit organization which challenges brands and individuals to go push the boundaries and go higher,

- has acknowledged our passion and hard work in what we do. What more, they've awarded us the
" 2013 Wedding & Event Photographer and Filmmaker of the Year"
(awarding ceremony at: Clover Club, Panay Avenue, Quezon City || 8:00pm, November 07,2013)

We couldn't be any happier with this news. Quality Brands Philippines has definitely given us more fuel which sustains our passion and fire in what we do. We would forever be indebted to the people who have helped us become who we are today. More especially to our clients (who in time had become friends), who had given us their 101% trust and confidence and who had believed in us. Truly, we cannot be who we are and where we are now, without you guys.

Daghang Salamat!

The Bride, Hope, giving her father a big hug after the solemnization ceremony.  This is "the" photo that made us fell in love with wedding candids/photo journalism and had inspired us to concentrate MORE in Capturing Stories and less with posed photographs.

Donny & Joyce: Aloha Davao Wedding

Aloha Davao!

This is Donny & Joyce's wedding in the Philippines. A luau themed wedding at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, with Joyce surprising Donny of her rendition of a wonderful song by Ingrid Michaelson, " You & I".

Joyce is "nani" (Hawaiian for beautiful) in a simple yet elegant wedding gown. While Donny is as "U'i, nohea " (Hawaiian for handsome) as ever in a beige colored suit.

Family and friends gathered to witness this union and forging of ties between Joyce and Donny. Madam Angela and brother Daniel flew in from Singapore to witness a son's/brother's wedding to a sweetheart of nine years.

Truly, no distance and no differences can stop love from emerging. For Donny & Joyce, they are the truest testaments that indeed, " Love conquers All"

Throw Back

We'll post weekly a Blast-from-the-Past! :)

The Bride, Jema, sitting at lounge room of the hotel, waiting for 'the go signal' for her to go to the church.  We saw this beautiful light from the door hitting her gently.  We had to press the shutter. :)

An Epiphany...

Nory's 60th Birthday

"A 60th birthday is a wonderful occasion. Nory have crossed several milestones, but life just keeps looking for more challenges. Enjoy the bliss of sixty; enjoy the fruits of your labor. Surround yourself with your children and grandchildren, and tell them tales of the yesteryears. Relive the magical moments of life even while you look forward to new experiences. It's great to be sixty!"

And this is exactly what Nory did on this special day. Celebrating with a bang!

Sharmaine || Sweet 16 (Pre-Shoot Photos)

"All the world is a birthday cake, so take a piece,
but not too much." George Harrison"

For Sharmaine, being 16, a step closer to being an adult is a milestone to be celebrated.
But, for this sweet young lady, she's basking in the joys of childhood and slowly embracing the thrills of adulthood.

Happy Sweet 16th Birthday!
